Steve Bullock made it one of his number one priorities to keep Montana’s fiscal strength the envy of the rest of the country.
He brought Democrats and Republicans together to pass a balanced budget while maintaining a $300 million rainy-day fund. He also was able to make responsible investments in education and infrastructure without raising taxes on Montana families or businesses.
Steve cut the business equipment tax for every business in the state and eliminated it entirely for two-thirds of Montana’s businesses. One of the first actions Steve took as governor was to put Montana’s checkbook and critical financial information online so Montanans can see how their money is being spent and managed.
This past summer, Steve released a plan to cut taxes for new and expanding small businesses and give tax cuts to businesses that provide apprenticeship programs for working Montanans.
For Steve, fiscal discipline is a deeply held Montana value that should never be upended by gimmicks and empty promises from well-funded special interests.
